This instructor-led Lean Six Sigma Black Belt “Blended learning” course span over a period of 4 months and combine highly effective and engaging online learning material, with virtual online class room sessions, project coaching, data analysis tools, project simulations in face-to-face workshops, and certification. These instructor-supported courses use the D-M-A-I-C methodology to cover the general knowledge of the theory, composition and implementation of a Six Sigma initiative.
In these courses of study, you will also become proficient in all of the analytical tools necessary to define, measure, analyze, improve, and control Black Belt improvement projects, with the exception of design and analysis of experiments. You will learn team leadership and project management skills. In short, as a Black Belt you will master the skills necessary to lead a complex process improvement project that produces bottom-line results.

The online component is powered by MoreSteam and it is delivered on-demand in a highly interactive and practice-oriented environment, with instructor support and world class instructional design. Learning sessions may be started and stopped at any point - content is delivered on-demand according to your schedule. These are just a few of the benefits of high-quality, online (or Web-based) learning.
Students access the training through the BLI University Portal. Each course includes an introductory orientation film and a left-side navigation bar with a course map. As you work through the training, a status section on the course map denotes the current lesson and the lessons that have already been viewed. Also included on each page are links to the discussion forum, the MoreSteam toolbox, online resources, templates, instructor support, the SigmaPedia online Lean Six Sigma encyclopedia and more.
The courses are conveniently divided into sessions, which are collections of related lessons. All course sessions use a mix of multimedia to present material, including text, synchronized audio slide shows, diagrams, charts, audio lectures, and simulations. We provide links to outside research resources to help you explore chosen subjects in greater detail. Each session ends with a quiz. All course material is available online, and the course is instructor supported if you need help.
A Black Belt project is not necessary for this training, but it is required for certification. We strongly suggest that students should accompany the coursework with a meaningful project. This will significantly enhance the learning experience because concepts and tools can be practiced on a real-world project as you complete the course.
Live online meetings to re-enforce the materials covered in the interactive e-learning. Our MBBs conduct a 2-hour session every week to go over the material in each phase and provide the opportunity for students to ask questions on concepts they are not clear on and to discuss the methodology's application to real life projects.
In addition to the 2-hour session, a 1-hour study hall is conducted to provide students with the opportunity to focus completely on working through content, solving problems with classmates, or discussing projects with MBBs. This kind of just-in-time training relieves students of some of the pressure associated with self-paced programs and helps develop their time management skills and avoid work-time distractions.
There is no substitute for a healthy mentoring relationship. Our MBBs Schedule regular meetings with students as they work through projects. At the end of each of the D.M.A.I.C Phase our MBB conducts a 1-hour tollgate review going over the deliverables and discussing the project progress in details, the tools, and their application to the student's specific project.
There is no substitute for Face-to-Face interaction. Our workshops are designed so that our students use their valuable time on learning how to apply the learned tools in a risk free environment to a continuous improvement project providing a more effective learning experience. This goal is achieved thru project simulation that runs for 3 days and a 2-day interactive discussion on the advanced tools that are commonly used by Black Belts.
The simulation is facilitated by one of our MBBs using an online multi-player game that offers a rich, risk-free project experience where choices to collect data or implement improvement actions all bear a cost in terms of time and money. Multiple decision paths create variability in results, so students must apply their Lean Six Sigma knowledge to make critical, data-driven decisions. Lean Six Sigma Black Belt blended learning or online training is a prerequisite for the 5-day Face-to-Face Workshop.
At BLI we take certification very seriously because we are keen on ensuring that our students are well grounded in the Lean Six Sigma concepts and can demonstrate these skills in practice. Your success as an effective practitioner in yielding improvement in Key performance metrics and delivering bottom-line results; is in essence our success.
Our certification requirements are designed to ensure students have a full understanding of the body of knowledge and can demonstrate these understanding thru project execution and testing.
ASQ is recognized as the world’s leading authority on quality and publishes the Body of Knowledge for the Six Sigma Black Belt and Six Sigma Black Belt.
The content of our online certification test are randomly drawn from a large question bank that correlates to the Body of Knowledge as defined by the American Society for Quality.
