Corporate Deployment of Lean Six Sigma

BLI 3-phase Deployment Approach

Deployment of any initiative requires a lot of understanding and sensitivity toward an organization's prevalent cultural and operational environment. Just a copy-and-paste approach, where one copies a western style deployment to an organization in the Middle East, does not work. The days of prescribing a one-size-fits-all solution are long gone. What worked for General Electric, Honeywell and Allied Signal in the ‘90s could be ineffective for other cultures. BLI is aware of the specific needs of Middle Eastern organizations and customize the deployment accordingly while keeping the basics intact. Also, Six Sigma is quite different from other methodologies like ISO, TQM, Quality Circles, etc, hence requires a different approach. What worked with these methodologies may not work for a Six Sigma deployment.

Prior to any Lean Six Sigma training and deployment, we help the organization to be aware of any cultural and operational barriers that would hinder or prevent a successful deployment of a Lean Six Sigma continuous Improvement initiative. at the onset of any engagement we conduct a Readiness Assessment for Six Sigma (RASS) to help us identify two major factors:

  1. Whether the change will be accepted across the organization and, if so, at what speed the change can be implemented.
  2. The maturity of the processes, measurement systems and data systems in an organization and how they can be leveraged toward a successful Lean Six Sigma Deployment.

Based on the results of the assessment, BLI will recommend and chart the right course to overcome barriers and leverage existing strength for a successful Lean Six Sigma Deployment.

Successful Lean Six Sigma deployment requires the following components prior to the first wave of training – the right people, the right projects, the right support system and the right training vendor.

  • The right people means the organization's brightest and most energetic and passionate about continuous improvement.
  • The right projects means well-defined projects that are aligned to the strategic goals of the organization.
  • The right support system means involved senior leaders, passionate champions, process owners that are subject matter experts, and highly analytical and skilled Six Sigma experts.
  • The right training vendor means a training vendor that provides the most effective and efficient training curriculum and technological tools that are tailored to the organizational need and pace of deployment.
